TCS#7 brings you more ramblings from a weekend taxi driver. Hey, at least I learned that I’m a ‘hackney cab’ driver and that I can use the bus lanes in any city! Result! Next show, I’m going to try another approach – a bit more of a story-telling feel…

After a couple of weeks away, it’s The Cab Show #6 - the taxi driving podcast that serves you up another sticky slice of life from a cab somewhere in the South West UK. Ah, look… it’s the Mayor’s Ball. How nice.

This weekend saw lots of drunk people, of course. I got to watch a 20 year old girl squat down and urinate in a high street doorway before getting into my cab.  I listened to drunken lads weigh up whether or not to go to a lap dancing club before homing in on the ‘ho’s at a nightclub… Every weekend, more alcohol fuelled relationship carnage… and still they come back for more.

And how little respect the younger people have for themselves – and how little respect they have for us as drivers.  They talk as if we don’t exist.

Anyway, if you’ve reached this page, why not get in touch.  I don’t know what I’m doing as a taxi driver (I stalled the car 3 times last night) any more than I know what I’m doing with this podcast, so help me figure it out.

My pride soooo didn’t want me to talk to the debt advice people this morning, but I did it anyway. Maybe I should just pay my creditors all £1 a month for a while; drive my cab, find another job – and push my business in the spare time. How nice it would be to stop worrying about going further into debt.  I’ll bet I’m not alone, eh?

Is the name of a London Cabby blog I came across today. A good read and I like the way that he just tells a story about his day. Reminds me that you don’t have to be clever or opinionated (gulp) – just be human and tell it like it is. Recommend you go there.

BTW – looks like I won’t be back in the cab until 28th March so expect another episode of the Show then.. Meantime, lets see if I can’t do a bit of running round getting people to know TCS exists..

… the name, the tragic inevitability – or the fact that he played 536 games without ever scoring. (“Might have been a goalkeeper” says my step-son. Good point.)

It has nothing to do with taxi driving, but it just caught my eye on some random ‘where are they now’ webpage.

I’ve been looking into a couple of UK taxi forums (see the list of links over there). One forum (taxiforums.co.uk)let me in, but seems to be a bit of a strange ranting shop. The other one (taxi-driver.co.uk) showed me as registered, then said my application had to be approved or something. Heard nothing more since then.

I haven’t figure out how to publicise this yet. And there’s another thing. I wonder whether this podcast should be about a) pulling together lots of views from other drivers plus a bit of secret ‘in-car’ recording or b) completely up-front “I’m making a podcast from inside a taxi, wanna be on it?” sort of thing. What do you think?

Oh, and I just realised that this phone number graphic was totally fucked up. Doh. What kind of number is that?? Someone had a bit of a paste-and-scale accident in PhotoShop I think.

Sooo…. I’m back in the cab after a couple of weeks away – and this week’s show finds me stumbling upon a little bit of magic while looking for a place to pee.

I’ve got a new shirt, a bee in my bonnet about people who don’t know they’re being manipulated by the media and a cab-load of gals spitting venom.
